New Mouse

Recently I got to purchase a new Magic Mouse! This amazing little guy has been sitting on my desk, and I have to say, I really have been enjoying it.

The mouse alone is not really that impressive, but using the Magic Mouse along with Better Touch Tool and enabling the 3 Finger Swipe for “expose” and “show desktop” has been freakin’ awesome!

My only complaint so far has been the tape Apple used on the bottom of the mouse to keep it in place in it’s packaging. It left this nasty stuff:

If you’re looking for a new Mouse to replace that crappy old Mighty Mouse, and you’re not a gamer, I recommend giving the new Magic Mouse a go.

Entermission from DJ Official

About five years ago I discovered the artist Flame, and since then I have been a huge fan of Christian Rap. Here is the latest release from Reach Records, check out the press release and go buy it. You will not regret it!

Entermission the debut album from DJ Official available in stores now!

After producing for over 10 years and serving as traveling deejay, Official finally has the opportunity to reveal the dynamic of his skill-set on one project. The album is purposed to influence Christians to think about the Great Commission (Matt 28:19) and the Great Commandment (Luke 10:27) on a local level. As Christians we have a personal mission field, which consist of those that God has placed in our sphere of influence. With a missional mindset we can affect the people around us with the Gospel message by the way we live and conduct ourselves in our everyday walk. This is a message that needs to be heard and with everything from Reggae, Downsouth, East Coast, Commercial, Underground, Electro, and Rock/Hipster featured on the album there is something for everyone!

EnterMission features over 20 artists such as Lecrae, Flame, Sho Baraka, JR, Tedashii, Trip Lee, R-Swift, Thi’sl, Jahaziel, and more! Every single track on EnterMission is produced by DJ Official.

Grace Baptist’s New Look

Diana and I have been working on a new look for the Grace Baptist website for a short while now. I designed the old site and was never very pleased with it. The site went from just some static information to a complete wordpress CMS enabled site. I never really took the time to really dig in and redesign it for CMS, and because of this the site looked very awkward. Spacing was never right and there was a lot of blank space.

When we first started attending Grace they already had a brochure they were using, but we were asked to do some updates to it and then we based the first website off of the brochure.

When I first designed the site, I used Rapidweaver, and this allowed me to set the site up in a matter of minutes. I really love using Rapidweaver, because its simplicity allows you to create a site very quickly. This is what Grace’s site looked like once I was done with Rapidweaver.

The spacing was not perfect, but it was so easy to put this together. Another problem was, we needed a way to edit the main page in case of an emergency. (During Katrina the members of Grace made great use of an old forum that someone set up just a few weeks before the storm.) At first I was the only one that could do any edits. This proved to be very difficult when Gustav came through and we had to evacuate. I had loaded up my iMac to take with us and then had to set it up at my in-laws in order to let people know we were canceling church. That’s why I decided to go with Wordpress and create a CMS based design, but this design was not very thought out and that was very evident.

Well, now we have a new pamphlet we are using. Post card style. Photos and design are copyright the most beautiful woman in the world (Who is definitely *not* looking over my shoulder at the moment :-) )

And here is the new site.

We were going for simple, and trying to focus more on the people. I think we have achieved that. :-)

Go check it out. GraceForNewOrleans.com

Look what I got

I’ve been doing some second shooting with Diana at the last couple of weddings she’s done. When Diana first started with photography, she started off with some really awkward camera bags. At first, we (by we I mean Diana) could not justify spending extra money on a fancy camera bag, but after shooting a few weddings, Diana decided it was time for her to get an upgrade in the bag department. So, she purchased a bag designed by Jessica Claire, a Shootsac, it is specifically designed for carrying just the lenses (it’s a pretty solid design). I was noticing after Diana got her Shootsac, she was able to run around and whip lenses on and off of her camera in a flash (little pun intended). I got very jealous, since I was still having to lug around a bag that was not comfortable nor functional. I finally talked Diana into getting me a Shootsac since my photography skills have been stepped-up and I plan on being her second shooter.

This is the shootsac with the cowboy cover.

Here is Diana sporting hers at Annie+Reid’s wedding.

I have not got to fully test this bag out yet, although I have been wearing it around the house a bit (Just trying to get a feel for it :-) ), but I know Diana has been raving about hers.

Here are a some shots that I have taken recently from two of the weddings I got to shoot with Diana. (Just for proof that I CAN take pictures. :-) )

Old Photos

I have been looking through old photos a lot lately. We have accumulated a ton of old digital photos. We have around 2000 files in iPhoto, and we have not used that app in well over a year. If I include just personal photos from our Lightroom Catalogs I have to measure in Gigabytes, and our LR Catalog has about 5GB worth of personal photos (not including Diana’s professional photos). I have been searching for a better way of handling our old personal photographs in order to save on physical disc space. I exported the old photos from iPhoto to a DVD, and now I am thinking about setting up a shutterfly account to store them online (shutterfly has no upload limit), then creating ZIP archives and uploading them to our web server (we have 1TB worth of online sever storage). Then I would be able to delete them from my hard drive. What are you guys doing with your old digital photographs?

Here is one of my favorites I came across today. It is from when Diana and I were dating, and I believe it was at our friend Joann’s birthday party. I did get in trouble for it, but it was so worth it! :-)
